Playing Catch Up: All Sorts of Stuffs, July 13

Jon went to Austin for 11 days to conduct further research for his dissertation, so the kids had to go to City Fresh distribution with us, which we'd been avoiding doing for some time out of...laziness, I suppose, though perhaps more pointedly busy-ness, which requires less attention for the children. So they usually just come up to the stop itself and their help is minimal these days. Natty and I and the other distribution folks tear through the counting of the vegetables, especially due to the revolution (read: streamlining) of process that's been happening lately. It's cool.

So anyway, the kids came with, then we headed up to the stop and got everything out and set it up, including tye-died zukes... green tomatoes with curlicue stemtops...
and assortments of all things green and grown in the ground...
then we took off for a rock show but a few doors down at our favorite local independent bookseller. We wore special, handmade t-shirts...

Then we crammed ourselves and a ton of other young folk into a tiny, cramped, air-conditionless basement and watched this guy, who I'd never heard of, sing barefoot and folk-rock inspirationally...

Boy did that get hot. So they ushered all the concert-goers up to a back alley to watch the main act, who first lent out costumes...

While they were setting up, Aleks traded silly bands with the teenage girls. It's quite the way of flirting.
Then for the main event: my nerdom fully realized. Paul and Joe DeGeorge playing songs about books, pretending to be the same fictional person from two different years, having time-traveled and started a garage band. It's so good. Harry and the Potters.

There were dances and sing-alongs...

And Bastian copped a squat after awhile, at one point laying down on the sidewalk. I realized at 3 a.m. when he woke up puking that this was due to illness.
A taste:

It was awesome.

* This event occurred July 13th, but this post was written August 10th. I dated it July 13th anyway just to mess with you.
