Swim Lessons Suck, but Swimming is Fine

I'm at a total loss on this. The outdoor pool is too cold and lessons involve doing what an adult-type person tells you to do, so swimming lessons thus far have been less than fun by a lot. We're still invited to Homeschool Swim Days, so I imagine instead of lessons we'll continue to try to do these twice a week through the winter and see how we fair. Surely they'll learn to not drown in time for adulthood. In the meantime, I'm exhausted by the constant conversation that must be had to do each day. I'm going to give it up and see if that magically transforms our interactions.

yep...hearin' that. We gave up on *formal* lessons ages ago. It was a huge bollocks and Sebastian didn't make it past the first half of the first lesson...;)

We're fortunate to have an outdoor pool for use in our townhouse complex (which will open any day now) and are embracing the 'if you take them, they will swim' approach...

so far, so good...although Sebastian prefers the splash-pad -- Savannah has come leaps and bounds on her own...

It's pretty horrible, but apparently it's mostly because it's cold and not just because there are rules. I think they'd do better in separate classes, but we're having problems these days with issues of respecting the rules and property of others due to our incessant curiosity. It's a very very tough spot to be in and I don't know what to do about it.
