We Played with a Rhinoceros Beetle!
One afternoon, Uncle Tony found a Rhinoceros Beetle walking in our driveway and trapped it in a water bottle knowing that Aleks would be fascinated. And indeed, he was right. 
They fed it a bit of apple, then eventually we let it go under the back deck where it buried itself into the mulch with surprising rapidity considering its otherwise slow pace.

Our neighbor brought over one of these beetles yesterday. The kids played with it in the yard, daring each other to put their arm in the container with the beetle, etc. I am not usually one to hesitate picking up bugs, but when that huge thing got out and tromped across our lawn, I could not bring myself to just pick it up with my bare hand! I kicked it back in the bucket with my shoe!
