On "Take a Stand Day," as part of the Iraq Campaign, we attended a candlelight vigil for peace. Aleks helped make signs:
which went on the Peace Wagon:"The Bard of Coventry" (Jon's title) performed his song, "Hypocrisy," to much applause. I bought a CD to support local hip hop.It was at Coventry Peace Park:The kids abandoned the Peace Wagon in favor of the playground.
Lastly, a bubble lady made giant bubbles in the setting sun.

We found a Praying Mantis on the window at Grandma Cat's house and kept it in Lilly's hermit crab box for 2 days. We were able to catch loads of Japanese Beetles to feed it as they kept hanging out lazily on the basil plants. We also tried a cricket, a spider, a moth, and Grandpa Jim and Aleks found an Assassin bug that they put in the box. We finally got to see it actually eat when it caught the Assassin bug, but Grandma Cat scolded us for feeding it such a beneficial insect (Assassin bugs, she learned online, eat other pests).
